Gematria Calculator

0 English Ordinal

This calculator treats gematria as a text and numerology tool. It does not make factual predictions or claims.

What Is Gematria?

Gematria is a system that assigns numerical values to letters, then adds those values to calculate the total for a word or phrase. This calculator compares English ordinal, reverse, reduction, extended, and Hebrew standard methods while showing each letter's contribution.

For example, the English ordinal value of CAT is 3 + 1 + 20 = 24. Reverse ordinal counts from the other end of the alphabet, so C=24, A=26, and T=7, producing 57. Full reduction keeps each English letter between 1 and 9; CAT therefore becomes 3 + 1 + 2 = 6. Spaces, punctuation, and unsupported characters are ignored rather than assigned invented values.

The number is a result of the selected letter-value system, not a universal property of a word. Two systems can produce different totals for the same text, so comparisons should always name the cipher used.

Included Systems

  • English ordinal: A=1 through Z=26.
  • Reverse ordinal: Z=1 through A=26.
  • Full reduction: letter values reduce to 1 through 9.
  • English extended: ordinal values multiplied by 6.
  • Hebrew standard: common Mispar Hechrechi letter values.

Hebrew standard values run from Aleph=1 through Tet=9, Yod=10 through Tsadi=90, and Qof=100 through Tav=400. Final letter forms are normalized to their standard counterparts in this calculator. English letters do not contribute to a Hebrew total, and Hebrew letters do not contribute to an English total.

To verify a result, select a system and inspect the per-letter breakdown shown below the total. Re-add those displayed values manually. This makes the method transparent and helps reveal spelling, language, or character differences before comparing phrases.
